Collecting Avios points is now something we can all do, even those who don’t travel often. Avios are a reward currency that are used by many airlines including Aer Lingus, British Airways and Qatar Airways, as well as various hotel websites and high street stores. I’ve got 10 easy ways to collect Avios to help you save towards your next break away.
1. Collect Avios when you fly
Collect Avios when you fly with Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Vueling and Qatar Airways. You don’t have to be a frequent traveller to join one of their frequent flyer clubs. If you haven’t already joined, simply sign up to AerClub and start collecting now.
2. Collect Avios when you shop online
Surprise, surprise, this is one of my favourite ways to collect Avios! There are over 100 stores where you can shop online and collect Avios at the same time! Simply go to AerClub eStore, click through to your favourite store and shop as usual – your purchases are tracked and you will collect Avios.
Remember to go via AerClub eStore to get Avios every time you shop – it is so easy! Stores like Brown Thomas, Marks and Spencer, River Island, Currys, Apple, and Look Fantastic are all partners with Avios. Once you discover this, trust me, you will never shop online any other way.
3. Collect Avios when you shop in Tesco Ireland
Aer Lingus and Tesco Ireland unveiled a new partnership recently and now AerClub members can convert their Tesco Clubcard vouchers into Avios. Every €2.50 in Tesco Club vouchers can be converted into 600 Avios.
€17.50 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers is enough to book an Aer Lingus a one-way reward flight to Paris for 4,000 Avios plus taxes. Alternatively simply use these Avios to part pay for your next Aer Lingus flight, flight upgrades, hotel stays, car hire, and more.
4. Collect Avios when you shop in Kildare Village
Calvin Klein, Samsonite, Nike, Ralph Lauren, UnderArmour – need I go on? There are over 100 different brands offering up to 60% off recommended retail prices in Kildare Village. And if that wasn’t good enough, you can also collect 1 Avios for every €1 you spend.
5. Collect Avios when you pay with Revolut or Aer Credit Card
Did you know you can collect Revpoints when using Revolut? You just need to opt-in to Revpoints on the app and make three purchases to start collecting them. You can then exchange RevPoints to Avios. Every 1 RevPoint you earn can be exchanged to 1 Avios. You can also choose to upgrade to Revolut Premium – this has a monthly fee but offers bonus RevPoints.
Aer Credit Card is an Aer Lingus credit card that is available to Irish residents. It offers the same benefits as a regular credit card but you collect 1 Avios for every €1 you spend with Aer Lingus and 1 Avios for every €4 you spend on all other transactions on your Aer Credit Card.
There is an annual charge of €78 (this is made up of 12 monthly charges of €6.50), plus the annual Government stamp duty fee of €30, but you can avail of huge benefits including:

6. Collect Avios when you book car-hire
Simply book your car hire with Avis or Budget car rental enter your Avios / AerClub membership number under the ‘driver details’ and collect 5 Avios for every €1 you spend with Avis, or 2 Avios with every €1 you spend with Budget car rental.
7. Collect Avios when you book hotels:
Melia, Marriott and the Merrion Hotel and lots more offer Avios for every €1 spent on hotels. This is a great way to boost your Avios balance. Simply book a hotel using one of these partners and collect Avios at the same time.
8. Collect Avios when you shop in store
If you prefer to shop in store rather than online, you can collect Avios in Harvey Nichols, Oliver Bonas, Sketchers, Fields, Clarks and much more.
9. Collect Avios with UBER
Avios is constantly adding new partners, so be sure to check in regularly for the latest updates. The newest addition is UBER. By linking your AerClub card in the UBER app, you can now collect Avios on every ride taken in the UK and Ireland. Plus, link your account and take a trip before 31st July to receive a bonus 500 Avios!
10. Collect Avios when you book holidays or travel experiences.
Did you know you can collect 4 Avios for every €1 you spend on travel experiences, excursions and day trips with Viator. You can also collect 1 Avios for every €1 you spend with Aer Lingus Holidays, 3 Avios for every €1 spent when you book your next cruise with Royal Caribbean and 12 Avios per €1 you spend in over 600 Airport lounges worldwide with Lounge Pass.
