20+ Family Staycations Over Halloween Break, 2 Night Stays from €258!

Thinking about some family staycations over the October mid term break? I’ve got family friendly Irish hotels and self catering apartments and houses to suit all tastes and budgets.

If you are planning some family staycations over the October mid term break, I’ve got you covered! I know many of you are looking for cheap hotel deals, others might want a bit of luxury, and many are looking for self catering accommodation with hotel facilities. I have tried to cater for everyone and have plenty of variety below.

Most family staycations are based on a two-night family stay, however I have also included some overnight Halloween package deals with meals and activities included. If you want to stay for longer, or just want an overnight escape, simply click on the links below and edit the search dates accordingly.

I selected various dates throughout the mid term below but dates can be changed to suit your requirements.  

1. Kerry: Ballyseede Castle, Tralee, The Lodge Family Room B&B, 2 Nights €410

All kids want to stay in a castle, right? Kerry’s only authentic castle hotel is surrounded by 30 acres of private gardens and woodland and is steeped in history. Ballyseede Castle is also known for its traditional Irish cuisine and fine dining, as well as its much loved resident, an Irish Wolfhound.

The Lodge family room has two double beds and offers great value for a family castle stay in Ireland. You are also ideally placed to explore the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way.

2. Meath: Púca Festival at Decoy Country Cottages, 3 Nights from €926

Get ready to be really and truly spooked at the birthplace of Halloween! This years Púca festival is on from the 30^th October to 2^nd November 2025, and includes live music and comedy performances from top artists as well fire rituals, spooky activities and storytelling for all the family to enjoy. 

The top rated Decoy Country Cottages are within easy reach of the festival hubs and have a range of cottages available from one to four bedrooms. They offer all the advantages of a self-catering holiday with the added bonus of having superb onsite facilities.

Children will love the alpaca, pony and pet goat, and the Kids Den has toys and books for younger children, as well as a games room and fitness suite upstairs. Every possible need for babies and toddlers can be supplied free of charge, including a stair-gate, baby bouncer etc. They are pet friendly too!

Price for a weekend stay in the 2 bedroom Coach House is €855 for two nights or €926 for three nights for a family of five, arriving on the 31st of October for the festival. 

3. Clare: Quilty Holiday Cottages, 3 bedroom home (Sleeps 6) 2 Nights, €530

The traditional Quilty Holiday Cottages are located on Clare’s coast and offer panoramic views on the Atlantic Ocean. Imagine walking the Cliffs of Moher, and returning to an open fire in your cottage! These three-bedroom homes sleep up to six and offer complimentary access to the indoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

4. Laois: Midlands Park Hotel, Family Room B&B, 2 Nights, €483

The Midlands Park Hotel is located in the centre of Portlaoise and has the added benefit of a leisure club with a 22 metre pool and a kids club onsite. We stayed here last year and loved its family friendly facilities and super service. There is a choice of dining options available, including Kelly’s Steakhouse which I can highly recommend.

5. Sligo: Clayton Hotel & Leisure Club,  2-bedroom Family Room, 2 Nights, €376

Set on expansive grounds, yet within walking distance of Sligo Town centre, the 4-star Clayton Sligo ticks all boxes for a family holiday in Ireland. We enjoyed a family staycation here recently and loved it. The leisure centre has a separate kids pool, and there is a mini golf course, games room and sensory room on-site.

6. Sligo: Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone, Family Room €342

The Ocean Sands Hotel is located in the heart of Enniscrone, overlooking one of Ireland’s best beaches, the location couldn’t be better. Children will love Waterpoint Aqua Park too, which is only a few minutes walk away.

7. Cork: Celtic Ross Hotel, Family Room, €385

As well as gorgeous coastal views, and access to its leisure centre with indoor pool, the Celtic Ross is renowned for its great food. Located in West Cork, this is ideally situated for a family break over October mid term in one of Ireland’s most beautiful locations.

8. Belfast: Holiday Inn Belfast, Family Room: €338

The Holiday Inn Belfast is located in the heart of Belfast and is a great value option for a family stay in Belfast. Belfast is brimming with family attractions including Ireland’s award-winning Science and Discovery Centre W5, and make sure you take a spin to Colin Glen Forest Park to enjoy their Gruffalo Trail, ziplines and alpine coaster.

9. Mayo: Breaffy House Hotel & Spa, Family Room B&B €493(4) or (for 6) €502

If you have been following me for a while you will know I fell in love with Mayo’s stunning coastline a few years ago, and stayed in Breaffy House Hotel on two occasions. It is a super family friendly hotel with a large swimming pool and spa on site, and if you like wine, make sure you take a tour of their cellar!

10. Kilashee Hotel Hotel Halloween Package, 2 Nights B&B + 1 Dinner from €540

The newly refurbished 4-star Kilashee Hotel is situated on a 55 acre estate with fairy forest trail, Butterfly Garden, and a playground with a zipline. The leisure centre boasts a 25 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, as well as a children’s pool.

This year their Halloween package can be booked for one, two or three nights and rooms can sleep up to five. Price includes stay with breakfast and three-course evening meal on the night of your choice.

Children will receive a Spooky goodie bag on arrival and a hot chocolate, and are invited to dress up in their Halloween costume with face painting on 31st October.

11. Kildare: 5 Star K Club – Shrek’s Haunted Hideaway, 2 Nights B&B + 1 Dinner + Activities from from €910

Treat yourself and the kids to a Halloween break to remember! 12. Sligo: The Diamond Coast Hotel, Family Room, €381

The Blue Flag Enniscrone beach is renowned as one of the best beaches on Ireland’s west coast. Its golden sand stretches for 5km, making it popular with families and water sports enthusiasts.

13. Clare: Treacy’s Oakwood Hotel, Family Room (for 5), €378

Treacys Oakwood Hotel is located in the heart of Shannon’s town centre, just 9 minutes drive from Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and less than an hour’s drive from the Cliffs of Moher. There is a bar and restaurant on site and it offers superb value for families looking to explore the Wild Atlantic Way over the Halloween break.

14. Dublin: Croke Park Hotel, Double Double Room, €258

If you are looking for great value family hotels over Halloween break then look no further than the top-rated Croke Park Hotel. Football fans will love that they are staying right opposite Croke Park Stadium – be sure to book a the Skyline tour – it is one of the best family activities in Dublin for children 12 and above. The views from the top are incredible and the admission includes entrance to the GAA museum afterwards.

This top-rated 4-star hotel has a popular restaurant on site and Dublin city centre can be reached in 25 minutes by foot, or even less by metro or bus.

15. Cork: Garryvoe Beach Homes, 3 Bedroom Luxury Beach Home €571

The Garryvoe Beach Homes are newly built homes with modern interiors, stunning views and a private garden to take advantage of them.

As the name suggests they are situated just two minutes walk from the Blue Flag Garryvoe Beach, however you can also avail of the leisure centre and swimming pool at the nearby Garryvoe Hotel, for a nominal daily charge.

16. Galway: Loughrea Hotel & Spa, Family Room, €368

The Loughrea Hotel & Spa is a super choice for families looking to explore Galway’s gorgeous coastline and Galway city. It has some super facilities on site too, including a Spa, restaurant and rooftop garden and sky lounge.

17. Wexford: Newtown Park Hotel, Family Room B&B + More from €300

18. Donegal: Redcastle Hotel, B&B + Dinner & More 2 Nights, €556

The Redcastle Hotel is located in one of my favourite parts of Ireland – the Inishowen Peninsula. Its waterfront location, 9-hole golf course and Thalasso Spa, are enough to tempt me, but the hotel has plenty of spooky activities planned and its located just 20 minutes from Europe’s largest halloween festival in Derry city!

Price for a two-night stay on the 30th of October for 2 adults and 2 children is €556 and includes breakfast, dinner, access to the hotel’s leisure club, Spa and golf course and a €20 voucher to a nearby attraction such as Wild Ireland or the Wild Alpaca Way.

19. Kilkenny: Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel, Family Room: 2 Nights €468

The Kilkenny Ormonde is practically a landmark in Kilkenny City, and is located just minutes away from the Medieval Mile. Its brasserie and lively bar attract locals as well as visitors, and it is the only city hotel in Kilkenny that has a leisure centre and spa.

A kids club operates during school holidays, making it a firm favourite for family staycations over the October mid term break, and Kilkenny’s Feasts and Beasts Festival is on over the weekend.

20. Cork: Charleville Park Hotel, Family Room: 2 Nights, €382

The Charleville Park Hotel is located 40 minutes from Cork and 30 minutes from Limerick, so you have the option to explore both counties as well as the wonderful Wild Atlantic Way.

There is a leisure club with 25-metre pool on site, as well as a restaurant and bar serving drinks and snacks. Rated as Excellent on TripAdvisor, this is the ideal hotel for families looking to explore Cork’s top attractions over the October mid term break.
