If you are planning some family staycations over the October mid term break, I’ve got you covered! I know many of you are looking for cheap hotel deals, others might want a bit of luxury, and many are looking for self catering accommodation with hotel facilities. I have tried to cater for everyone and have plenty of variety below.

Most family staycations are based on a two-night family stay, however I have also included some overnight Halloween package deals with meals and activities included. If you want to stay for longer, or just want an overnight escape, simply click on the links below and edit the search dates accordingly.
I selected various dates throughout the mid term below but dates can be changed to suit your requirements.
1. Kerry: Ballyseede Castle, Tralee, The Lodge Family Room B&B, 2 Nights €410

All kids want to stay in a castle, right? Kerry’s only authentic castle hotel is surrounded by 30 acres of private gardens and woodland and is steeped in history. Ballyseede Castle is also known for its traditional Irish cuisine and fine dining, as well as its much loved resident, an Irish Wolfhound.
The Lodge family room has two double beds and offers great value for a family castle stay in Ireland. You are also ideally placed to explore the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way.

Get ready to be really and truly spooked at the birthplace of Halloween! This years Púca festival is on from the 30th October to 2nd November 2025, and includes live music and comedy performances from top artists as well fire rituals, spooky activities and storytelling for all the family to enjoy.
The top rated Decoy Country Cottages are within easy reach of the festival hubs and have a range of cottages available from one to four bedrooms. They offer all the advantages of a self-catering holiday with the added bonus of having superb onsite facilities.
Children will love the alpaca, pony and pet goat, and the Kids Den has toys and books for younger children, as well as a games room and fitness suite upstairs. Every possible need for babies and toddlers can be supplied free of charge, including a stair-gate, baby bouncer etc. They are pet friendly too!

4. Laois: Midlands Park Hotel, Family Room B&B, 2 Nights, €483

The Midlands Park Hotel is located in the centre of Portlaoise and has the added benefit of a leisure club with a 22 metre pool and a kids club onsite. We stayed here last year and loved its family friendly facilities and super service. There is a choice of dining options available, including Kelly’s Steakhouse which I can highly recommend.

Set on expansive grounds, yet within walking distance of Sligo Town centre, the 4-star Clayton Sligo ticks all boxes for a family holiday in Ireland. We enjoyed a family staycation here recently and loved it. The leisure centre has a separate kids pool, and there is a mini golf course, games room and sensory room on-site.

If you have been following me for a while you will know I fell in love with Mayo’s stunning coastline a few years ago, and stayed in Breaffy House Hotel on two occasions. It is a super family friendly hotel with a large swimming pool and spa on site, and if you like wine, make sure you take a tour of their cellar!

The newly refurbished 4-star Kilashee Hotel is situated on a 55 acre estate with fairy forest trail, Butterfly Garden, and a playground with a zipline. The leisure centre boasts a 25 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, as well as a children’s pool.
This year their Halloween package can be booked for one, two or three nights and rooms can sleep up to five. Price includes stay with breakfast and three-course evening meal on the night of your choice.
