Take the kids to PortAventura for Easter holidays and they will thank you for it! Not only is it one of Europe’s largest theme parks, but it’s also one of the best. I visited twice and loved it and was amazed at how many rides and experiences are available for children of all ages.

If you happen to get enough of rollercoasters you can choose to relax on the beach if you get great weather, or take day-trips to the nearby cities of Barcelona and Tarragona.
I found flights from to Reus on the 15th of April for €83 from Dublin and €97 from Cork or Shannon for four nights. Note Barcelona Reus airport is the closest airport to Salou and PortAventura, so I recommend choosing Reus to save on time and airport transfers. The 4-Star Hotel Gold River offers free unlimited entry to PortAventura during your stay, as well as a one-day family pass to FerrariLand. The hotel has direct access to the Mediterranean area of the park and boasts two swimming pools and four restaurants.
We stayed at this hotel many years ago and had a ball. It was great to be able to go in the evening time too, when there were no crowds, and to be able to catch the fireworks and walk back to our hotel afterwards.
Price for a four-night stay is €1004, based on a family of four sharing or €1566 for a family of five, and both include breakfast.
