I loved Kos Town when I visited a few years ago. The old town square was my favourite place to eat, drink and people watch as the sun sets. There’s so much to do and see on the island, check out our Kos travel guide below.

The capital, Kos Town, boasts Roman ruins and plenty of historical sights, as well as great restaurants and night life. The sophisticated harbour is at the heart of this town, which is a great place to enjoy some al fresco dining.

Top Tip: Book a restaurant in the old town square and soak up the atmosphere. I recommend Ambrosia restaurant, and ask for a seat on the balcony.
Kos is just 40 x 80 kilometres, so it is easy to visit most of the highlights. You can also take a day trip to Bodrum in Turkey – it is only 20 minutes by ferry from Kos Town.

No trip to Kos is complete without a visit to the beautiful inland mountain village of Zia. It lies at the base of Mount Dikaios, the highest mountain of Kos, and boasts amazing views for the perfect sunset. It is best to book a tour in advance as it gets super busy especially in high summer months.

Top Tip: Pre book a restaurant to avoid queuing, especially in high season. Oromedon Traditional Tastes is highly rated with great food and amazing views. Book a rooftop table for the best sunset view.
