Family trip to New York

Family Trip to New York, May or June Bank Holiday Weeeknd, 2ad & 2ch €2316

Treat the kids to a family trip to New York. Stay in the heart of Manhattan over the May or June bank holiday weekend, and take a bite out of the Big Apple!

Whether it’s feeling like Kevin Mc Allister in Home Alone 2, or Giselle in Enchanted, New York is a place that transports kids into a fantasy land. They will recognise the skyscrapers that Spiderman swung from and the streets where Annie sang Tomorrow, even the yellow cabs will bring back movie flashbacks. I’ve been fortunate to enjoy a family trip to New York on two occasions, and it was a fabulous experience both times.

We brought the kids to New York for the first time when they were 10 and 7 years old and they loved it. Fast forward 6 years and they couldn’t wait to return.

They loved the bright lights of Times Square, going uptown or downtown on the subway, and the overall feeling that they were inside a movie, although the shopping did have an impact the second time around!

Just being in New York with kids is an attraction in itself, but while you are there you have to take in the highlights! If you are planning on visiting a few attractions it might be worthwhile getting a New York City Pass, as it offers up to 40% off New York’s top attractions, including Top of the Rock, The Edge, Statue of Liberty and the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.

With the Aer Lingus sale, there has never been a better time to visit. I found return flights over the May bank or June bank holiday for just €393 per person.

There are many accommodation options to choose from, and you can check out my recommendations in this guide:

However, I found package deal including flights and a three-night stay in the 4 Star Westin New York Grand Central for €579 per person, which I think is hard to beat! And, a €29pp deposit is all that’s required to secure a booking!

All prices are correct at time of issue but are subject to change. Please note this family trip to New York contains affiliate links, where I receive a small commission if a booking is made – but at no additional cost to you.
