The Travel Expert’s Best Travel Deals – 10th September 2024

I’ve searched the web so you don’t have to! My best travel deals from Ireland include last minute holidays, short breaks, early booking offers, and super staycations.

In this week’s best travel deals I have last minute breaks to Bordeaux and Cambrils, city breaks in Vienna and Rome, winter in Las Vegas and Lanzarote, early booking offers to Orlando next summer, and super staycations in Wexford and Sligo.

Best last minute: Bordeaux Break from €280

Jet off to sunny Bordeaux this weekend or next – I found return flights for €32 for seven nights or €45 for five nights from Dublin, and €33 for 6 nights from Cork. Prices are similar throughout September and October, and If you bring my recommended Ryanair cabin bag, you won’t even need to pay for checked baggage! 

There are daily flights from Dublin and three-times weekly from Cork, so you can choose a long weekend in the city, or stay for a week and explore the medieval village of Saint Èmilion and the sandy beach at Arcachon Bay.

I have selected a five-night stay in the popular MEININGER Hotel Bordeaux Gare Saint-Jean for €235 per person, and the but simply edit dates and hotel to suit you requirements.

Best October Offer: A week in Cambrils

Spend a week in the culinary capital of the Costa Dorada. This pretty up-scale town has a super beach and an old town, and is just as popular with couples off peak, as it is with families during the summer months. 

I found return flights for €100 from Dublin to Reus on the 17th of October. A seven-night stay at the 4-Star Hotel Monica is €273 per person, or choose a deluxe room at the stylish adult-only Instants Boutique Hotel for €354 per person.

Flights are also available from Cork and Shannon to Reus with Ryanair, or you can choose Girona from Knock airport, but this has a longer transfer time. 

Best Overnight Escape: Exclusive Offer – Wexford Spa Break

Best Winter Sun: 4-Star Week in Lanzarote, €524pp

Beat the January blues with a week in Lanzarote from just x . I found return flights with Aer Lingus on the 23rd of January for just €142 including 10kg checked baggage from Dublin or €234 from Cork. There are also flights with Ryanair from Shannon and Knock, prices are over €300 per person.

A seven-night stay in the popular Tisalaya apartments in Puerto del Carmen is just €273 per person, or choose the 4-Star La Geria Hotel for just €382 per person. Upgrade to All Inclusive for €568 per person.

Best Family Break: Weekend at Vienna’s Christmas Markets

I have been repeatedly asked about Christmas market breaks for families and this one is a cracker! The Christmas markets open early in Vienna compared to other European cities and this year is no exception.

As well as the massive market at City Hall (pictured above) which opens on the 16th of November, the fabulous Christmas market at Schonnbrunn Palace has added lots of family activities too. There is an ice rink which is free for children, carousel, ferris wheel and children’s railway, and this market is open from the 8th of November.

I found return flights for €140 on Friday evening the 15th of November, and a three-night stay at the top-rated Hotel Social Hub is only €401 for a family of four or €662 for a family of five or six.

Best Family Staycation: Mid term break in Enniscrone

Escape the house for a few days and enjoy some beach time over the October mid term break. The Ocean Sands Hotel is located in the heart of Enniscrone, overlooking one of Ireland’s best beaches, and has a super deal of just €288 for a two-night family stay. Children will love Waterpoint Aqua Park too, which is only a few minutes walk away.

Best Long Haul: Vegas Baby!

Take advantage of new direct flights to Las Vegas and enjoy a five night break in a deluxe suite in Sin City for just €786 per person! I found return direct flights for €448 on the 16th of November, or choose the 11th of January for a post-Christmas trip at the same price!

A five-night stay in a deluxe suite at the Signature MGM Grand is only €338 per person!

Best City Break: Rome in January for €197

I found return flights with Aer Lingus from Dublin for €93 departing Saturday the 18th of January for two nights – and this includes a 10kg checked bag! You can also fly to Rome from Cork with Ryanair. Price for three nights is €169 on the 17th of January.
